Abstract:
This presentation introduces the idea of psychology as a science of design, drawing on varieties of socio-technical theorizing in the literature and Clemmensen's own attempts to do design psychology research. To give examples, the Professor will present two recent design psychology projects, one which illustrates ‘need finding’ for design of physicalizations in hybrid work (ECIS 2024 paper), and one that is upcoming major research for him on the topic of ‘prototyping worker experiences’ with digital job crafting (INTERACT workshop paper). Professor Clemmensen will present his thoughts on using and developing design psychology theory.
Torkil Clemmensen is a full professor at Department of Digitalization, Copenhagen Business School. He received his PhD in psychology from University of Copenhagen. He is on the steering board for NordiCHI, and a senior editor for AIS Transactions of Human-Computer Interaction. He is one of the founders of the International Federation of Information Processing’s Working Group TC13.6 on Human Work Interaction Design (HWID).
